The American Journalism Center offers internships in journalism, public relations, and marketing to conservative college students. All of our internships are flexible with regard to length of time and number of hours worked per week, which allows students to take classes while completing their internship. Interns will work at the Washington, DC offices of Accuracy in Media and Accuracy in Academia, which are accessible by Metro. In addition to their duties at AIM and AIA, American Journalism Center interns will attend lectures, briefings, and conferences hosted by top government and policy organizations.

While these positions do require some experience in their respective fields, we welcome applications from students in any academic field who feel they may benefit from interning with AIM. We are looking for students who are energetic, well-rounded and willing to tackle a number of different tasks or projects. Previous writing experience is strongly recommended for journalism interns. We welcome high school, college, and graduate students, as well as those recently graduated from college to apply.

Internships are unpaid.

Journalism Internships

Journalism internships with the AJC offer you the chance to enhance your writing portfolio, develop your research skills, assist in the publication of a bi-monthly newsletter with circulation in the thousands, and see your articles published. Print journalism interns report on political events in DC, write reviews of nonfiction books dealing with policy issues, and update a blog about their experiences. Previous writing experience is strongly preferred.

We also offer broadcast journalism internships for aspiring television journalists and producers. Video production interns film policy briefings, protests, and other events in DC, and produce short videos to be distributed on popular websites. Previous video production experience and familiarity with video editing programs (Sony Vegas Pro or Adobe Premiere Elements) are preferred.

Public Relations Internships

Public relations interns assist the Director of Public Relations in many different areas, including organizing and publicizing events, monitoring press coverage, writing and sending press releases, campus outreach and more.

Marketing Internships

Marketing interns help manage print and internet advertising campaigns promoting the AIM newsletter, website, online store, and a variety of products and publications. Creativity is encouraged.
